At Discount Windows & Doors, we are known for supplying great products at terrific prices and the ideal product for each type of application. Hawaii has a brutal climate for windows and window hardware; high rise condos add the complexity of higher stresses, increased wind loads, and inherent difficulties in access including the potential need for gantry or scaffolding.

Windows designed solely for residential use are simply are not designed to withstand the wind borne debris, and higher winds and water pressures that occur at higher floor levels and will therefore fail and leak. In addition, condominium and apartment owners must be especially aware of the potential danger posed by tropical storms and hurricanes.

Recognizing the potential for injury and damage to property, the state of Hawaii has recently revised building codes to increase rating for wind zones from 105 mph to 140 mph in many areas and will add requirements for hurricane impact rated glass and frames. It’s anticipated the new code will be adopted at the end of 2016 or early 2017.

A couple years after our upstairs sliding door was installed, we had problems opening and closing it and discovered one of the rollers had rusted. We called them and in a couple weeks time, Kai came out and replaced all the door's rollers with vinyl ones, no charge. Kai was on time, friendly, efficient and proficient. Happy to know they stand by their warranty with no questions asked!

Discount Windows and Doors replaced our rear lani sliding door earlier this year. We had an issue with the screen door. DW&D responded quickly and scheduled the warranty work. Kai and Peter called ahead and came out the scheduled day. They were both polite and made quick work of the warranty work. The fixed the damaged parts and found the cause of the initial damage and fixed that as well. We were already satisfied with the quality and attention to detail from the initial install. The staff was friendly and helpful, and the windows look to be great so far. The manufacturing and shipping took a long time but that was not discount Windows & Doors fault. Spencer and Peter did a good job delivering our windows and came out right away to repair one of the screens that we discovered to be in need of re-splining.Was not as satisfied with the window installation subcontractor, however. The guys came a little late and were racing to beat the setting sun. Discovered the next day that the exterior trim paint was too thin, and the nail holes and joints not sealed. I ended up doing the finishing work myself and this old man was not too excited about working from a ladder on my 2nd floor windows.
